More Mittens!

It's another HelloYarn design, using (my choice, not the recommended Dale of Norway) Malabrigo. Toasty *and* cheerfully festive!

This isn't wonderful.

Today has brought nausea, a leak in the foyer ceiling, and a series of leaks running off the support beam between the kitchen and the breakfast nook. All in that order.

I don't have any solutions. Not for any of them.

Time for a multple choice pop quiz!

These cats are:

A. Miles beyond hissy-fit stage.

B. Conjoined twins with a twist: only ONE is actually Siamese.

C. Reimagining the plot of the book, A Farewell to Arms.

D. Showing off their new pouty collagen lips. Sek-SAY!!!

E. Seriously, they're mad cats. Maybe the maddest ever. But whether 'mad' equals 'angry' or 'insane' is up for grabs.

Got an answer? A clue? A better suggestion? Leave a comment, I'd love to hear from you!

BTW, the long-haired crabby cat with Siamese markings is Morgan, our little 8 1/2 lb. fluff-chick. She's got the attitude and personality of your average spoiled cheerleading captain with a trust fund. The other crab, a white British Short-hair, is Bert, a snuggly little girl who purrs on contact. She's purring on my lap this very moment, all curled up in a furry ball of comfort.

I love our pets.

Wound-up

Nearly ready to knit!

Yarn-ing to be mittens...

Some Malabrigo yarn I'm winding so I can finish my squirrel and leaf woollen mittens. I sure could've used them the past few days of sub-zero temps!

This is what we made...

...it's called Kaiserschmarrn.

I know, right? I've never heard of it either.

I'm so glad I made it, though! IT IS EXCEPTIONAL. Quite a good flavor and texture.

No, not the TV version. Our friendly, beat-the-winter competition and gathering begins today!

Pirate Mittens, designed by HelloYarn.

A late Christmas present for Rick, I knitted these mittens pretty quickly once I got the hang of the pattern. I *LOVE* Adrian Bizilla's designs! She's awesome, and they're SO MUCH fun to knit! Her site is helloyarn.com and is entirely worth several visits.

I'm already working on my next pattern of hers. It's another pair of mittens. One hand has an oak leaf on it, the other has a squirrel and acorns.

This pair will be for ME.

Biohazardous sci-fi horror served here..

...In addition to Hoegarden, Hennepin, Circus Boy, New Holland, ...

Trustworthy, as always...

As seen on one of the taps at Lava.

Interestingly, they provide an ingredient list:
acid
ammonia nitrate
citric acid
yellow no. 5
Dimethyl ether
iodine
methane
beef gravy
high fructose corn syrup
thumbtacks
phosphorous
benzene
whale oil
and other natural flavors.

Sad thing: I can't ever try this concoction. I can't have high fructose corn syrup...

Pirate Mittens!

They're finally DONE, delivered, and deemed delightful. I just want to keep my husband warm and stylin'.

57 Moods, Too?

Mood-lit ketchup at Lava Lounge, as we celebrate Dan ('Grandpa Dan') turning 39..

Out with the old!

Good to see the back side (as it were) of this beyond-foul ancient carpeting. Having fresh flooring in Sandy's room will go a long way towards maintaining her health, once she starts chemo.

And that will be any day now.

Like Father...

Rick and Jun reassemble Sandy's daybed. Yesterday we gave Sandy's dayroom (the daytime refuge/nap room on the main floor) an 'Extreme Makeover', and today the new carpeting was installed. Now it's time to put all the furniture back in.
It's neat to see Rick and his dad with a project they can share.
